Artist Statement
Throughout my career as a designer and illustrator - and now as a full-time artist - I have had the pleasure of exploring many different art media. From papermaking and book arts to found object assemblages, I've learned from them all. But my main focus has always been printmaking, especially carving blockprints and experimenting with repeated patterns and multiples. I love collaging with my prints using handmade papers and wax coating. I also imprint my linoleum blocks or carve directly into clay slabs to form three-dimensional plaques and vessels.
At the core of my life is the creative environment that my husband, Scott, and I have been developing in Hancock, NH for the past thirty years. Besides our handmade house and extensive sculpture garden we each have a studio building. We love to travel, but the landscape and animals of New Hampshire are my greatest inspiration and inform my art with a strong sense of place. Through my work I hope to share with others my delight in the natural world and joy in being an artist.
