Artist Statement / Biography

I am a great lover of art and draw much inspiration from many artists over the last century or so, particularly Cezanne, Van Gogh and Gaugin. I love the Canadian Group of Seven. I really love Picasso. I am a mostly self-taught oil painter. I am told my work is rather unique – a style that would mostly likely be called figurative abstract painting. I use a lot of paint and an lot of colors in my paintings. My favorite subjects are landscapes (especially skies), cows, a flowers. My technique involves painting many layers and building up a complex painting surface. In my floral paintings, I incorporate actual flowers in the painting that are painted over, again adding to a more interesting paint surface. I try to inset a little fun into the paintings when I can.

I live in Sharon with my wife Linda.
